Overview
The Hungry List ("the App") is operated by Patrick Nguyen ("I," "me," or "my"). This policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
I do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.
Information I Collect
Information you provide directly
- Email address — collected when you create an account with email and password, sign in with Apple, or sign in with Google.
- Display name — the name you set when creating your account. Shown to other members of your groups.
- Username — a unique handle you choose during onboarding. Used to identify you within the app.
Information collected automatically or via device permissions
- Location (when in use) — used only to show nearby restaurants on the map when you are actively searching. The App requests "When In Use" permission; your location is never collected in the background.
- Camera — used to scan QR codes so you can join a group by scanning a friend's invite code. No images are stored or transmitted.
- Calendar write access — used only when you explicitly tap "Add to Calendar" to export a group dining event. The App writes events to your calendar and does not read existing calendar data.
- Push notification token — collected when you grant notification permission, used to send you group-related alerts (e.g., new events, RSVP reminders). You can revoke this at any time in iOS Settings.
Information you create by using the App
- Groups — group names and membership lists you create or join.
- Restaurants — restaurant names and addresses you add to a group's list (sourced from Apple Maps or entered manually).
- Hungry Meter ratings — your 1–10 craving scores for each restaurant. The group average is visible to all members; individual scores are not shown by name to other members.
- Events and RSVPs — events you create, including date, time, and restaurant; and your RSVP status on events others create.
- Availability — the free-night schedules you mark, used to surface the best time for group meetups.
- Eaten records — the meal history entries logged when your group visits a restaurant, plus personal diary entries you add yourself.
- Reports — if you report content for review, the report is stored to allow me to take action.

Third-Party Sign-In
The App offers Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google as alternatives to email/password sign-up. When you use these options:

- Data may be disclosed if required by law.
Push Notifications
The App requests notification permission when you first sign in. You can turn off notifications at any time in iOS Settings → The Hungry List → Notifications.
Your Rights
You may at any time:
- Update your display name or username from your profile in the App.
- Delete your account and all associated data from your profile by tapping "Delete Account." This permanently removes your profile, ratings, events, eaten records, and group memberships from our servers.
